It is one of the first things people ask when they come into our shop in Chatsworth. You are about to change the whole look of your car, so you want to know how long you get to enjoy it.
The good news is that a quality cast vinyl wrap, installed by people who do this every day, gives you years of great looking color. Here is what goes into that and how you can stretch it even further.
What a quality wrap gives you
Premium cast vinyl from the major film makers is built to hold its color and shape for years on a daily driven car. That is the material we use at WRPD, because it conforms to curves, stays put in deep recesses, and keeps its finish looking rich.
Most of our customers drive their wrapped cars every day on the 118, the 405, and the 101, and they are still getting compliments years later. When the day comes that you want something new, the wrap comes off and you get to pick a whole new look.
Why the install matters so much
The film is only half the story. How it is laid down decides how long it looks perfect. We clean and prep every panel, remove hardware where it makes sense, and wrap edges around so there are no lines for dirt and water to creep under.
That extra care is what keeps corners and seams tight through hot Valley summers and cool mornings up by Santa Susana Pass. A clean install is a wrap that ages gracefully.
How the Southern California sun plays in
Sun is the biggest factor for any finish out here, wrap or paint. Horizontal panels like the hood, roof, and trunk get the most direct light, so they are the areas to show a little love.
Parking in a garage or under cover when you can, and giving the car a regular wash, keeps the color deep and even. A lot of our clients also add a ceramic coating made for vinyl on top, which adds UV protection and makes washing a breeze.
Getting the most years out of your wrap
Wash by hand every week or two, dry with a soft microfiber towel, and clean off bird droppings and tree sap soon after they land. Those simple habits go a long way.
Swing by the shop anytime you have a question. We are happy to look over your wrap, touch up an edge, and give you tips so it keeps looking like the day you picked it up.

Common questions
Does color or finish change how long a wrap lasts?+
Gloss, satin, and matte films all hold up great with normal care. Specialty films like chrome have their own care routine, and we walk you through it when you pick one.
Can I take my wrapped car through a car wash?+
Hand washing is best. Brush style tunnel washes can scuff the film and catch edges, so we recommend a touchless wash if you are in a hurry.
What happens when I am ready for a new look?+
We remove the wrap and you are free to go back to your factory color or choose a brand new wrap.
